On Monday 26 November 2018 from 8 to 10 p.m., a debate on the added value of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) will take place in the aula Zeger Van Hee (DV1 91.56). Both prof. dr. Marieke Wyckaert (KU Leuven) and em. prof. dr. Viktor Vanberg (Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and Walter Eucken Institut) will give a short lecture and subsequently comment on each other’s point of view. Prof. dr. Joeri Vananroye will provide an introduction and moderate the debate.

Prof. dr. Marieke Wyckaert (debater) teaches corporate law as a part-time professor at the Jan Ronse Institute for Company and Financial Law of KU Leuven and is a partner with the Law firm Eubelius. She has a license in law of KU Leuven of 1984, a master of laws of the University of Berkeley of 1985 and a doctorate in law of KU Leuven.g Professor Wyckaert takes special interest in questions relating to the management of corporations.
Em. prof. dr. Viktor Vanberg (debater) is an emeritus professor of the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and the chairman of the board of the Walter Eucken Institut. He finalized his studies of sociology at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster in 1968, his Ph.D. at the Technische Universität Berlin in 1974 and his habilitation at the Universität Mannheim in 1981. He was a professor of economics at the George Masson University where he worked with nobel price winning economist James M. Buchanan at the Center for the Study of Public Choice. When he returned to Germany he held the chair in economic policy at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and became the director of the Walter Eucken Institut. In 2010 he and Hernando de Soto received the Hayek-Medaille. In his publications professor Vanberg discusses how the responsibility of corporations can be delineated.
Prof. dr. Joeri Vananroye (moderator) is teaching commercial and Economic Analysis of Law of law at KU Leuven, where he is part of the Institute for Commercial and Insolvency Law, and is a lawyer at the law firm Quinz. He obtained a license in law at KU Leuven in 1996, an LL.M. of the University of Chicago in 1997 and a doctorate in law of KU Leuven in 2011. Professor Vananroye publishes frequently on the law and economics analyses of the governance of corporations.
